Before starting my professional life, I enjoyed doing reading, learning and writing about mainly online advertising and e-commerce, which became my passions in my university years. I had two blogs; one personal (here if you are interested to check out but FYI; it’s in Turkish), and the other one, called Marketoloji. In my personal blog, I had made a lot of interesting predictions about Facebook, Microsoft, Yahoo etc, which now puts a smile on my face after all these years. In Marketoloji, I assembled a team of rockstar authors with different backgrounds in marketing and business, which won best marketing blog award in Turkey at the time.
Late 2010, I was lucky enough to join Facebook to pursue my career in tech & online marketing, and I put all my energy into my job. Therefore, I stopped blogging, and admittedly ignored even the operational part of maintaining either. Thus, Marketoloji does not exist anymore, but thankfully, Google did not kill Blogger, so my very first blog is still accessible there.
Now that I am on a break from corporate life, I am glad to be back to blogging and excited to write about what I learned in my professional life, this time in English. On this page, I am hoping to share insights from the latest trends that inspire me in digital marketing, and overall in product strategy topics.
In the last few years, I have spent a lot of time learning and thinking about solutions for retailers. I particularly focused on two things: a) Retail Media Networks b) Changing measurement standards. Retail Media Networks has been a hot topic in the retail ecosystem but the context is much broad. I plan to share more about the context, the opportunity and recommendations to the relevant stakeholders in these ecosystems. In Measurement, with the changes announced during iOS14 launch by Apple, which affected people-based measurement for digital advertising, there has been a lot of thinking on how the new measurement standards will be in the recent years. I will share more about MMM, Clean Rooms, the impact on MTA tools as well as the platform-specific measurement capabilities,.
I also had a great deal of exposure on product strategy and organizational structure changes at Meta. I built a great deal of understanding these areas, and will share thoughts on putting together the right product strategy and get organize effectively to execute successfully on it. Bear with me, since I am a little rusty after a long break from writing/blogging, yet alone trying it in English. But, I am excited, and looking forward to sharing from my experiences, and getting to know new people through this blog.
